40 is the new 30

My most recent adventure was probably the most meaningful and wholesome experience I’ve had in ages. My 40th birthday wasn’t a big bang like my 18th, my 30th, or any of those legendary “Bosbach parties” (yes, the Tequila Lady moments are still unforgettable). But as you get older, your values shift, your views change, and so does your idea of a good time — especially when you live on the other side of the world.

So, we booked a cool house in the Netherlands, just a short walk from the sea. Squeezed in like sardines, we somehow managed to fit everything into one car and off we went on a mini road trip. We ate, played board games, ate, went shopping, ate, went swimming, ate, explored, and — you guessed it — ate a little more.

That was my birthday wish: nothing fancy, just a proper family holiday. Somehow, my sneaky crew even managed to smuggle in decorations, cake, balloons, and presents without me noticing. It was awesome — we all got some much-needed rest and suffered daily food comas.
