Who we are?

I’m Denise Bosbach, originally from Germany but now proudly considering myself a Kiwi. My journey has taken me from the heart of Germany to the shores of Australia and finally to the enchanting landscapes of New Zealand, which I’ve called home for the past 11 years. (Fun fact: I call Germany “home” when I’m in New Zealand, and vice versa when I’m in Germany—confusing, but it keeps life interesting.)

Now in my 40s (or something close—I’m genuinely terrible at keeping track), my husband Mark (late 40s) and I have decided to embrace a life less ordinary. We traded the rat race of monotonous work, a stable income, and a predictable routine for a floating adventure on the open seas. In other words, we sold most of our stuff, waved goodbye to comfort and certainty, and said hello to saltwater hair, tiny living quarters, and the thrill of the unknown.

It wasn’t an easy decision. After all, we had jobs, a lovely home, and even a toastie maker we were quite fond of. But the call of adventure was too strong. For as long as I can remember, I’ve worked hard, saved diligently, and spent it all on seeing the world. While others splurged on fancy cars or sprawling homes, I’ve always chosen plane tickets, new destinations, and the occasional questionable street food over material things.

Mark, my partner in crime and chief technical officer of this operation, plays a significant role in making the YouTube vlog happen. He’s the one behind the camera, capturing our adventures through stunning photos and videos, while I string together words and daily Instagram stories to (hopefully) entertain you. Together, we’re proving that life after 40 is just as exciting—if not more so—than those carefree twenties everyone romanticises over.

Through this blog, we hope to inspire both young and old to break free from the daily grind and discover that it’s never too late to chase your dreams. Whether it’s ditching the office for a sailboat or simply finding the courage to take a different path, we’re here to show you it’s possible. And if you’re curious about how we went about it—budgeting, downsizing, and navigating the chaos of big life changes—we’re happy to share our experience and tips.

The idea of documenting my travels has been lingering for years, nudged along by family and friends who insist my tales of mishaps and adventures are worth sharing. Now, as we travel across the globe, exploring remote corners of the earth, it finally feels like the perfect time to dive into the world of blogging.

So here we are—completely thrilled, slightly terrified, and eager to share this journey with family, friends, and fellow adventurers like you. If you’re ready for tales of wanderlust, wit, and the occasional disastrous dinghy drama, you’re in the right place. Welcome aboard!
